Description

The 242468-001 is the Compaq branded DLT2000XT 15/30GB internal LVD SCSI tape drive.

The DLT2000XT full height tape drive is a very early generation of the Quantum DLT family and was manufactured by Quantum for many vendors including HP, Compaq, IBM, Dell, Tandberg, Overland and many others for use in libraries, autoloaders and of course as standalone internal and external drives.

The DLT2000XT offers 15GB native capacity or 30GB compressed capacity on a single tape at speeds of up to 2.5MBps or 9GB per hour.

The DLT2000XT was only available in 50 pin SCSI-2 interface.

Still performing its function in the real world, this was the first DLT tape drive with unique, tape loadable firmware, allowing easy updates to the drive’s microcode, so that additional capabilities could be added by merely changing software. The same technique also permitted customization to the SCSI interface parameters.

Also notable was the 2000XT’s use of advanced linear recording technology, precision tape guiding system, and adaptive control mechanism, all of which were retained in future generations of DLT tape drives.

All stock DLT drives have been fully refurbished by our factory trained engineers and have passed a series of manufacturer diagnostic tests designed to test the read write performance of the DLT drive.
